You are invited to join in to our Autumn Equinox Ceremony of Balance

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2026 • Held at the moment of the equinox, 8:05 PM EDT

Is your life tipped too far one way? Too much work and too little rest, too much giving and too little coming back, one worry crowding out everything else? On the one night the year stands in perfect balance, Join us as two unicorns gather at our altar, a silver medal made in two halves is made whole, and your name is carried into the turning of the season. It is the Dance of the Unicorns on the Equinox.

Why Join the Dance

Bring your life back into balance. The equinox is the night day and night stand equal. It has long been held as the most natural time to ask for that same steadiness: between work and rest, giving and receiving, head and heart.

Heal what has been divided. As the two halves of the medal are joined, the ceremony holds your intention that what has been at odds finds its seam, whether a strained relationship, an inner conflict, or a decision pulling you two ways.

Gather your harvest. This is the old harvest festival. It is a time to see clearly what the months since spring have given you, keep what is worth carrying forward, and leave the rest in the field.

Walk into winter steady and protected. As the nights lengthen, the ceremony calls on the protective Black Unicorn and the ancient autumn moon rite for calm, rest, and quiet confidence through the dark half of the year.

A Night of Rare Alignment

At 8:05 PM Eastern, the sun crosses the celestial equator and enters Libra, the Scales. The Druids knew this turning as Alban Elfed, the Light of the Water. In imperial China, the emperors went on the night of the autumn equinox to the Temple of the Moon. Between nine and eleven, they made offerings to the Moon, the twenty-eight lunar mansions, and all the stars. This year the equinox arrives less than an hour before that ancient moon hour begins, and our ceremony carries from one straight into the other.

The Unicorns and the Medal

A White Unicorn and a Black Unicorn stand at the head of our altar, light and dark keeping watch together.

At the center rests a treasure few altars will ever hold: a split silver medal from the Shanghai Mint, one of only 2,888 made. It is a yin-yang that truly comes apart, carrying two unicorns from two worlds. One is the qilin of Chinese legend, revered for serenity and protection. The other is the Western unicorn of freedom and good fortune. Set into each half is the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests, where emperors prayed for plenty. Its twenty-eight pillars hold the seasons, the months, the hours, and the lunar mansions.

The medal rests on the altar in two halves. At the moment of the equinox, it is joined.

What You Receive

Your name and intention are held within the ceremony, from its opening through the joining of the medal and on through the moon hour.

Afterward, you receive a personal Ritual Letter. It describes the ceremony, the balancing energy it carries, the signs to watch for as that energy settles, and simple ways to work with it in the weeks ahead.
